IREM took part in the event “The Role of Green Hydrogen in Energy Systems: Production, Integration and Territorial Impact”, hosted by the University of Palermo and focused on the development prospects of the renewable hydrogen value chain.
During the event, CEO Giovanni Musso presented the H2-SR project to Engineering students at the University of Palermo. Developed in partnership with Res Integra, a company within the Group, the initiative is part of the Hydrogen Valley programme funded by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) through a call issued by the Sicilian Region. The project involves the construction of a green hydrogen production plant in Priolo Gargallo, powered by renewable energy sources.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to showcase IREM’s ESG journey, its investments in sustainability, and its ongoing commitment to developing human capital through the company’s Academy. In recent years, the Academy has trained numerous young professionals who are now working across the Group’s construction sites and business units in Italy and abroad.
"We believe that the energy transition can be achieved not only through technological investments, but also by developing the skills and expertise that will drive change," Musso stated. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between businesses, universities and research institutions in shaping the future of the region’s energy and industrial landscape.
